It’s almost that time…
Almost time for Thanksgiving and rounds of great food, desserts, drinks, and quality time with family!
BUT the more exciting part for me is preperation!!! Every year I find myself slaving over the stove, burnt out, and ready to pull out all of my hair! However, this year I chose to go a different route by prepping my Menu & making a few things ahead of time to cut the cooking time down on Turkey day and keep the kitchen madness to a minimum! Haha!
So, my first round of prepping involves brining my turkey for the next 2 days! Oh, how it’s going to be juicy & flavorful! See ingredients below 👇🏾
2 gallons Cold Water
4 Tablespoons Fresh Rosemary Leaves
5 cloves Garlic, Minced
1-1/2 cup Kosher Salt
2 cups Brown Sugar
3 Tablespoons Peppercorns (optional)
5 whole Bay Leaves
Peel Of Three Large Oranges
1 lemon, sliced
I simply brought all of the ingredients to a boil, turned off the stove, and let it cool for 30 minutes or more. **The trick I used to make it cool more quickly was by adding ice cubes to the brine! It’ll cool in no time! **
Once cooled, I placed my rinsed turkey in my brine bag and poured the goodness (brine) all over (until the water completely covered the turkey) & securely tied bag! Wallah! That’s your brine! Just place it in the refrigerator for at least 24 hrs (more if you have enough time) and you’re all set! ✔️
So here’s a peek into my dinner for tonight: honey garlic wings, garlic knots, and kale chips!
