How To Make Candied Frozen Sour Grapes

To make the Candied Frozen Sour Grapes, start by lining a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a bowl, toss the grapes with lime juice until they’re fully coated, then chill in the fridge for about 10 minutes.

Next, pour some sugar into a small bowl. Once the grapes are chilled, roll each one in the sugar and lay them on the baking sheet. Cover with plastic wrap and freeze for 2-3 hours. Once they're frozen, just pop them in ziplock bags for easy snacking later. Enjoy!

To Add Citric Acid or Not?

Adding citric acid to your Candied Frozen Sour Grapes can be a great idea! It boosts the tartness and gives a candy-like sour flavor, making the grapes taste even more like Sour Patch Kids. Plus, it helps preserve their freshness and vibrant color. If you love that extra zing, go for it!

Where To Buy Citric Acid?

You can find citric acid at most grocery stores in the baking aisle, often near the canning supplies. It's also available online through retailers like Amazon or specialty food stores. Additionally, some health food stores and bulk food shops carry it, so you have plenty of options to choose from!

Are Grapes Good For You?

Yes, grapes are very good for you! They’re rich in vitamins C and K, antioxidants, and fiber. Which can support heart health, boost your immune system, and promote healthy digestion. The antioxidants, particularly resveratrol, may help reduce inflammation and lower the risk of chronic diseases. Plus, grapes are low in calories + make a delicious, hydrating snack!

And if you make these Candied Frozen Sour Grapes, you can switch up the sugar option for something like stevia, monkfruit or erythritol for a healthier twist!

What Types of Grapes Work Best?

When it comes to making Candied Frozen Sour Grapes, seedless varieties are your best bet for convenience + texture. Here are a few great options:

  • Green grapes. These tend to be crisp + slightly tart, making them a refreshing choice that pairs well with the sweet coating. This is the type I personally used!
  • Red grapes. Known for their natural sweetness, red grapes add a nice flavor balance and vibrant color to your treat.
  • Black grapes. With a rich, deep flavor, black grapes can provide a unique twist and are just as delicious when coated and frozen.

The grapes remain juicy and crunchy on the inside, while the sugar coating gives them a sweet, slightly crunchy exterior.
