How To Make Homemade Fresh Apple Juice

To start, you’ll need to peel the apples and chop them into medium-sized chunks. Then, toss those chunks into a high-powered blender along with some water, lemon juice, honey (if you’re using it), and a few mint leaves (optional). Blend everything until it’s nice + smooth.

Next, grab a strainer and pour the mixture into a bowl, discarding any pulp that gets caught. NOTE: Instead of adding ice, you can chill juice for 1-2 hours in the refrigerator before serving and shake well prior to pouring.

Ingredients

APPLE JUICE:

  • Apples. I love using Gala or Honey crisp apples.
  • Filtered water.
  • Lemon. Freshly squeezed (You can also use 1 teaspoon of lemon juice)
  • Honey. I like to use organic raw honey.
  • Mint leaves. Optional.

What Kind Of Apples Are Best For Juicing?

For juicing, I love using sweet, crisp apples like Fuji, Gala, or Honeycrisp—they’re naturally sweet, so you don’t need to add much sugar. If you’re into something a little more tart, Granny Smiths are where it’s at! You can also mix a few varieties together for the best of both worlds. Play around and find your fave combo!

Do I Need To Peel The Apples Before Juicing?

It’s totally up to you! You don’t have to peel them since you'll strain everything through a strainer or nut milk bag anyway. Leaving the peel on adds extra fiber and nutrients, but peeling will give you a smoother juice. Both options work, so go with your preference!

Do I Need a Juicer?

Nope, you don’t need a fancy juicer to make this apple juice! All you need is a good blender and a strainer (or a nut milk bag). The blender breaks down the apples, and then you just strain out the pulp to get smooth, fresh juice.

Is Fresh Apple Juice Good For You?

Absolutely! Fresh apple juice is packed with good stuff, especially when you make it yourself. Apples are loaded with fiber, vitamins + antioxidants that are great for your heart, digestion + overall health. Plus, with raw honey, lemon juice, and a little mint in the mix, you’re adding even more health benefits like vitamin C and natural sweetness.

How to store?

Keep any leftovers in the refrigerator, tightly covered in your pitcher or in a sealed mason jar for 2-3 days before it starts to ferment. Always shake well before serving.

Yes! To store longer, apple juice can be frozen for up 1 year. Be sure to add apple juice to a freezer-safe jar or container or zip lock bag for ease.
