Ingredients for Anti-Inflammatory Kiwi Juice

There are a few key ingredients to make sure your juice is packed with the most nutrients possible.

Here's what you need for apple-kiwi juice:

  • Kiwis. You'll want to remove the fuzzy skin first.
  • Apple. I use Granny smith because I love the tart flavor, but feel free to use your favorite kind of apple.
  • Cucumber. You can remove the peel here too. Or if you have an organic cucumber, leave the peel on.
  • Raw honey. You could also sweeten your juice with agave or maple syrup for a fully vegan take.
  • Turmeric. You can use powdered turmeric or grate fresh.
  • Black pepper. You won't taste this ingredient, but it helps your body absorb the healthy compounds in turmeric.

Do I Need a Juicer?

No! You don't need a special juicer to make this juice. When you puree everything in a blender, you keep all of the fiber and nutrients from the fruits and vegetables in the juice, rather than straining them out. This makes the drink more filling, healthy, and cleansing.

Of course, if you don't like pulp in your apple kiwi juice, simply strain it through a fine-mesh strainer before storing or serving.

Why is Turmeric Healthy?

Turmeric is root similar to ginger that packs are dozens of health benefits, including:

  • Anti-inflammatory: curcumin, which is found in turmeric is shown to reduce inflammation in the body. Inflammation can cause fatal conditions, including heart disease, cancer, and Alzheimer's disease.
  • Antioxidant: Turmeric is high in antioxidants, which fight cancer-causing free radicals in the body.
  • Brain health: studies suggest that turmeric can improve brain hormones related to memory.

The best way to eat turmeric is with black pepper for maximum absorption. So even though you won't be able to taste the pepper in this apple kiwi juice, you'll be reaping major health benefits from it!

Serving Apple Kiwi Juice

I love to serve this fruit and veggie juice with plenty of edible garnishes. I'll fill my glass with ice, then pour in the juice and add slices of fresh kiwi and cucumber. If you like an herby touch, you can add a sprig of thyme, rosemary, or basil.

Can I Store Leftover Juice?

Yes, you can store leftover apple kiwi juice in an airtight jar or pitcher in the fridge for u to 2 days. The juice might separate a bit, that's normal. Just give it a good stir before you enjoy it.

This healthy and invigorating apple kiwi juice gets anti-inflammatory benefits from turmeric and black pepper
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Total Time: 5 minutes
Serves: 1 serving

Ingredients

JUICE:

  • 2 cups filtered water
  • 2 kiwis, peeled + sliced
  • 1 Granny smith apple, peeled + sliced
  • 1 medium cucumber, peeled + chopped
  • 1 tablespoon raw honey
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

TO MAKE THE JUICE:

  • Add all ingredients to a high-powered blender and blend on medium-high speed until smooth and 'foamy', about 2-3 minutes.
  • Once done, slowly pour + strain juice into a pitcher, squeezing the pulp against the strainer to ensure that all juices are extracted. NOTE: If preferred, you can skip this step and leave pulp in.
  • To serve—add drink to prepared glass(es). NOTE: If preferred, you can let the juice chill in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours before serving as well.
  • Sip and enjoy!

Tips & Tricks

  • STORAGE: Leftovers can be stored tightly sealed in a pitcher with plastic wrap over it or in a sealed mason jar in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Be sure to stir before serving.
  • ADDITIONAL BOOST: To add a boost to make this juice more powerful, you can add cayenne pepper, allspice, cinnamon, ginger or basil, chia seeds, etc. I would use about 1 teaspoon of any addition.
