This skillet chocolate Oreo brownie has to be one of my greatest highlights lately. I'm not a huge chocolate fan, BUT this is one of those chocolate-y desserts that draws me in every time.
A box of brownies is an easy go-to for a quick dessert. Did you know that you likely already have the ingredients found inside boxed brownies right in the pantry? And honestly, the ingredients you currently have are likely to be of higher quality than those found in the box.
Boxed brownie mix generally consists of flour, baking powder or soda, and cocoa powder. These simple ingredients for this Chocolate Oreo Skillet Brownie is cheaper when bought and used individually. Even the most novice bakers likely have each of these ingredients in the cupboard. If not, that’s okay! It is so easy to learn how to make homemade versions of boxed baked goods.
When it comes to the ingredients in this brownie recipe --- high-quality ingredients is key. For example, look for fair-trade cocoa powder to ensure it is coming from a company that ensures the safety of its workers.
Look for high-quality flour since it is one of the main ingredients of this dish. Also, be sure to change out your baking powder and baking soda before their expiration dates. Baking powder can lose its lifting capabilities over time, so change it out at least once per year.
Ingredients
here’s what you need to make this easy but incredible Chocolate Oreo Skillet Brownie:
All-purpose flour. I like organic flour from Bob’s Red Mill or King Arthur.
Cocoapowder. Choose organic natural cocoa powder if you can.
Brown sugar. Likewise, I like organic sugar to make sure it’s fully vegan.
Baking powder. this helps the brownies rise.
Cinnamon. You can make your own or use store-bought pumpkin spice.
Flax eggs. Make these with flaxseed meal and water to help your egg-free brownies stay together.
Almond milk. Feel free to use any kind of plant-based milk you like.
Vanilla
Chopped vegan chocolate. Vegan chocolate chips also work.
Oreo cookies. Make sure to use the GF version to make this gluten-free friendly.
