It’s the season for iced drinks, and this Dirty Chai Maple Iced Latte is simply amazing! I’ve been loving making homemade lattes at home lately—especially with almond or oat milk! It's not only easy but also lets me control exactly what goes into my drink which I love!

I decided to try the 'dirty' version of chai tea—basically adding coffee—and I’m so glad I did! The blend of chai spices with bold coffee flavors creates a delicious combo that’s hard to beat. How To Make A Dirty Chai Maple Iced Latte

This tea latte recipe comes together in a saucepan on the stove for the chai tea component and then stirred together with the remaining ingredients. It’s full of classic chai spices + black tea.

Ingredients

CHAI MAPLE TEA:

  • Almond milk. Unsweetened (You can sub with your favorite plant-based milk or whole milk)
  • Black tea bags. You can use more or less to adjust the black tea flavor! You can also use decaf tea bags if needed!
  • Chai spice blend. You can make your own for better flavor control (See below for how to make it) or you can use a store-bought version.
  • Maple syrup. Use pure maple syrup for the best flavor!

ICED LATTE:

  • Crushed ice. You can also use regular ice cubes.
  • Freshly-brewed espresso or coffee. Cooled.
  • Chai maple tea. Also cooled.
  • Vanilla syrup. My favorite brand can be found in my Amazon Shop.
  • Whipped cream. For a homemade option, see my Whipped Cream recipe. To make this latte vegan you can also opt for a coconut whipped cream.
  • Sprinkles of chai spice blend. Optional.

Can I Make A Dirty Chai Maple Iced Latte Without Caffeine?

Absolutely! Black tea typically has about 47 milligrams of caffeine per 8-ounce cup, while coffee packs around 95 milligrams for the same size. If you prefer to cut back on caffeine, you can easily switch to decaf black tea. Plus, if you're using chai tea bags, you can find decaf options to suit your needs.

Can I Use Other Types of Milk?

Absolutely! If you’d like to switch things up with the type of plant-based milk that you use—–that’s totally fine! The world of plant-based milk is constantly expanding. From the classics like coconut milkcashew milk, soy milk and almond milk, we now have delicious options like oat milk, and even potato and quinoa milk.

Can I Serve this Hot or Cold?

Yes! You can definitely switch things up by serving this latte hot or cold whenever you chose to. To serve hot, simply warm all latte ingredients together in a small saucepan until heated through. Pour in a mug and top with whipped cream and a few sprinkles of chai tea mix, if desired.

Can I use maple syrup substitute?

Yes, you can use honey, agave syrup, or any other sweetener you like in place of maple syrup.

Can I make this vegan/dairy-free?

Yes, everything aside from the whipped cream is vegan, so opt for a vegan whipped cream for topping or skip it altogether.
