Make a delicious homemade Honey + Turmeric Iced Latte with a homemade turmeric 'shot', raw honey, oat milk and cold brew coffee for a creamy and satisfying morning drink. Feel free to top things off with whipped cream (or coconut whipped cream) for an extra treat!
Lately, I've been spending less money in local coffee shops or Starbucks as a way to not only save money, but also as a way to experiment with different flavors of drinks and have fun---while also knowing the ingredients that I add to each cup. So far, I've been pleasantly surprised at how delicious homemade lattes are and I'm so happy that I took the leap.
With this Honey + Turmeric Iced Latte, you're going to love the idea of using that homemade or store-bought oat milk. It’s made with cold brew for an extra caffeine kick and has a nice balance of flavor from the turmeric and honey. You can also add a nice treat to your morning brew all week long by topping things off a with a dairy-free (or regular) whip cream.
Honey + Turmeric Iced Latte Ingredients
The two components in this simple homemade latte are the homemade turmeric 'shot' and the coffee. Here’s what you need to make the shot:
Turmeric powder. I use an organic version from Jamaica or from my favorite brand--- Navitas Organics.
Black pepper. In case you weren't aware, turmeric actually absorbs best when paired with black pepper.
Boiling water. This is to help the turmeric smoothen out and thicken.
To make your lattes, you’ll use:
Cold brew. You can also use chilled brewed coffee.
Oat milk. Make your own! Or use store-bought oat milk.
Coconut whipped cream. This is also easy to make with a chilled can of full-fat coconut cream.
Raw honey. This is the highlight of the entire drink and also acts as a great sweetener and is rich in antioxidants.
Spices. These spices (cinnamon + nutmeg) help to add extra flavor and amplifies everything else.
Why Add Turmeric to Your Latte?
Believe me, adding turmeric to this drink doesn’t change a thing in terms of compromising its taste. In fact, the slightly earthy flavor of this vibrant spice is delicious!
Turmeric has a compound called curcumin, which is a powerful source of anti-inflammatory antioxidents. However, the best way that our bodies can absorb all of these benefits is when we consume turmeric with black pepper. The compound in black pepper piperine is what helps us absorb curcumin, You can’t taste the pepper much in this drink, but you get all of the health benefits.
In addition, piperine on its own can help relieve nausea and headaches and improve digestion.
When it comes to adding more turmeric into your diet, there are various recipes that I've shared that incorporate this ingredient. You can enjoy everything from drinks to savory meals using this powerful ingredient:

Tips & Tricks
WHAT PLANT-BASED MILKS ARE GOOD FOR THIS RECIPE? My go-to plant-based brand for Oat milk when using store-bought is the Forager Project. However, you can always use your fave or one of the following: Almond, coconut milk, homemade oat milk (froths/foams VERY WELL), homemade cashew milk, flax milk, etc.
SWEETENER: You can always use Agave syrup or pure maple syrup if you don't want to add honey.
TURMERIC: For health benefits of using turmeric, ensuring that it is paired with black pepper, helps to aid in curcumin absorption.
