What is Kombucha?

Basically, Kombucha is a fermented drink made by adding bacteria and yeast to a mixture of black or green tea and sugar. In recent years, it has become increasingly popular. Personally, I enjoy drinking GT's Synergy Kombucha which are high-quality and comes in an array of flavors.

Is Kombucha Good For Gut Health?

Yes, actually! Kombuacha and other fermented foods are full of antioxidants and probiotics, which help with digestion. According to research, the live bacteria in Kombucha actually boosts the health of the intestinal cells and help to make the body more efficient.

Tips For The BEST Pineapple Guava Kombucha Lemonade

After whipping up homemade lemonade time and time again, I've learned a thing or two to make sure it's downright amazing every single time!

  • Use fresh ingredients ---- Fresh lemons, quality pineapple juice + guava nectar for the best flavor.
  • Taste the lemonade as you go and adjust the sweetness by adding more kombucha, lemon or sugar if needed.
  • Chill the lemonade thoroughly before serving, or add plenty of ice to keep it cold.
  • Make it stronger ---- Prepare the lemonade slightly stronger than you prefer, as it will dilute when served over ice.

Add-On Ingredients

While this Pineapple Guava Kombucha Lemonade is absolutely delicious as it is, if you're looking to mix it up here are some ideas:

  • Fresh pineapple
  • Fresh mint leaves
  • Ripe strawberries
  • Cucumber for a cooling effect.
  • Basil or Thyme Sprigs
  • Add a hint of tropical sweetness + extra hydration by swapping out some of the regular water with coconut water.

How to Make Clear Ice Cubes without a Clear Ice Cube Mold

One of the greatest phenomenons when it comes to ice cubes has been seeing super clear ice cubes from those clear ice cube systems or molds and wanting to try it, but not necessarily wanting to have a huge contraption in my freezer. Haha. Anyone else feel my pain? Whelp, no need to worry----I've done my research and tested it out a bit and have found some solutions to help those of us who don't have any fancy system to making clear ice cubes. Here are a few ways:

Tip #1: It's best to use water that is distilled or super-filtered to avoid gasses and dissolved oxygen, which are the two things that cause our ice to "fog up" when frozen.

Tip #2: Boil your water and freeze your water hot. Again, much to my previous point, this removes any dissolved oxygen or gasses. Just be sure to carefully pour the hot water into your ice cube tray or mold-----preferably one made from materials that naturally insulates like silicone. Also, ensure that your tray lays FLAT while freezing.

Tip #3: Slow freeze your ice cubes. This should be done for about 24 hours, which allows any impurities to be forced out of the ice---resulting in much clearer ice.

Pineapple Guava Kombucha Lemonade Q + A's

How to store?

Keep any leftovers in the refrigerator, tightly covered in your pitcher or in a sealed mason jar. Best if consumed within a few days.

My lemonade is too sweet! How can i fix it?

No sweat! If your lemonade is too sweet, just toss in more water or lemon juice. When you pour it over ice, less sweet lemonade tends to thin out quicker. Also, remember, lemonade tastes way sweeter when it's warm compared to when it's ice-cold. So, before you go adding more water, give it a chill over some ice and see if it hits the spot. You might find it's just right!

Can i use concentrated lemon juice?

When you're in a pinch yes you can! But save it as a last resort. Fresh lemon juice gives the best flavor!

Can I Add Alcohol?

Yes definitely! If you'd like to spruce things up with alcohol, feel free to add 1 ounce of whiskey, rum, vodka, champagne, etc. For a more "cocktail-feel" without the alcohol, I love using Ritual Zero Proof alcohol alternatives

How long will the simple syrup last?

If you keep this sugar syrup in the fridge tightly sealed, it will last a month! Keep it handy and add it to all your fave drinks!

What is the best guava juice to use?

I reccomemnd using a natutal sugar free guava juice so you can control the sweetness of the lemonade.
