Usually, when turning my bread into gluten-free bread, I simply swap regular all-purpose flour for gluten-free all-purpose flour or 1-to-1 baking flour from Bob’s Red Mill. I recommend using a GF Flour Blend (Bob’s Red Mills has a great version!) for greater ease. However, if using only GF All-purpose flour, be sure to add Xanthan Gum so that it acts as regular flour would.

LET US KNOW!
This recipe looks delicious! I was wondering if I can omit the pecans and walnuts for the crutch topping to make it nut-free? And will the crutch topping still be crunchy without them?
Hi Estrella! Thanks so much for choosing to give this a try! Yes----you definitely can make it nut-free! I would just double the amount of flour and sugar for a nice crunchy topping! 🙂
This recipe is amazing and I'm not even vegan. I have made it multiple times. I like to add a cream cheese frosting drizzle on time to make it even more delicious. Are the calories listed per slice?
Hi Callie! Wow! I'm so happy to hear that you've enjoyed this banana bread! Definitely a staple in my house and adding a cream cheese drizzle sounds amazing! Yes--the calories are calculated per 1 serving. 🙂
This bread is delicious! The crunch on top is amazing! I did have an issue with the center of the bread not cooking all the way through -- I had it in the oven for over an hour but the edges and top started to burn so I took it out. It ended up being like a bread pudding and it was still so so good!!! Could it be because I used the maple syrup and applesauce instead of agave and oil? Thank you for your wonderful recipes!!!
Hi Lindsay! I'm so happy to hear that you enjoyed this recipe! This bread is definitely a staple in my house! Yes, using applesauce and maple syrup together might add a bit more liquid. If you substituted the applesauce for the oil by using 1/4 cup, I would definitely try only 2 Tbsps next time! In addition, my trick to getting the middle baked through is to poke tiny holes (using a toothpick) all around the centers once the edges begin to form. I hope that this helps! 🙂
I have this in the oven now. I LOVE a crumble topping on breads and even donuts! I smells so good cant wait to have a slice. Thankyou for sharing.
Hi Theresa! I'm so excited to hear how it turns out! I'm so with ya on crumble toppings! Enjoy! 🙂
That topping looks so incredibly good, and handy to have a vegan version of this too.
Yes, it really does add a nice extra kick, Caroline!
