CHICKEN WINGS:
- 2 lbs. organic chicken wings, disjointed
- ¼ cup cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
HONEY GARLIC SAUCE:
- 2 Tbsps Extra virgin olive oil
- 6 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tablespoon minced ginger
- 1 ½ cups raw honey, organic
- 2 Tbsps cornstarch + 3 Tbsps warm water
- ⅓ cup Tamari sauce (You can also use soy sauce, if desired)
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1-2 Tbsps sesame seeds
- 2 green onions (aka scallions), chopped
SEASON + MARINATE THE CHICKEN WINGS:
In a large bowl, add your freshly cleaned + rinsed chicken wings along with the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, smoked paprika, parsley, and cornstarch, mixing everything together until chicken is fully coated. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes. NOTE: For best results, it's best to marinate chicken overnight in the refrigerator or for up to 2 days.
AIR FRY THE WINGS:
Preheat the Air Fryer according to the settings at 450 degrees and lightly spray the basket with cooking oil to ensure that your chicken doesn't stick to it during cooking.
Add the seasoned wings to the prepared basket and cook for 15-20 minutes, depending on desired level of crispiness and (golden) darkness.
OVEN BAKED OPTION:
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with parchment paper and a wire rack for the best crispy results. NOTE: be sure to generously spray the wire rack to ensure that wings don't stick.
Lay each chicken wing side by side onto the baking sheet (about an inch apart). Repeat until all chicken wings are assembled. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until crispy.
WHIP TOGETHER THE HONEY GARLIC SAUCE:
In a saucepan over medium-high heat, add the olive oil. Then add in the minced garlic and ginger and sauté until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes. Add the honey, Tamari sauce, and red pepper flakes, stirring together to combine. Reduce the heat and let everything simmer for 1-2 minutes. Stir in the cornstarch mixture until the sauce begins to thicken, about 1-2 minutes. Add the crispy chicken wings in the sauce and toss them until coated, allowing everything to continue to simmer. NOTE: As the sauce and chicken wings cook together, the sauce will thicken and become sticky after about 4-5 minutes.
Remove from heat, sprinkle with sesame seeds, garnish with chopped scallion, and serve immediately with your favorite side (french fries, basmati rice, etc.) or dipping sauce. Bon Appetit!
- STORAGE: Any leftovers can be kept in a tightly sealed container and refrigerated for up to 3-4 days. Reheat in the oven at 375 degrees Fahrenheit, Air Fryer (for about 5 minutes or so), or microwave when ready to serve.
- GLUTEN-FREE OPTION: To make these wings GF, just ensure that you use the best alternative to cornstarch is arrowroot starch or Gf flour.
